IT’S QUALITY OVER quantity today with not one but two provincial finals of the 2013 AIB senior club championships take place from 2pm.

Reigning football champions St Brigid’s (Roscommon) are bidding for their fifth Connacht title, all of which have been claimed since 2006. Opponents Castlebar Mitchels (Mayo) last won this competition twenty years ago.

The semi-finals of the Leinster senior football championship are also down for decision today with Portlaoise (Laois), Moorefield (Kildare), St Vincent’s (Dublin) and Summerhill (Meath) all hoping for a final berth.

The Munster title is also up for grabs as  Clare’s Sixmilebridge bid for their fourth provincial senior hurling crown against a Na Piarsaigh side who won the title in 2011.

St Brigid’s 0-2 v Castlebar Mitchels 0-0: Brigid’s open the scoring in Dr Hyde Park with two points in the first couple of minutes through Senan Kilbride and Cathal McHugh.

Na Piarsaigh 1-0 Sixmilebridge 0-1: Kevin Lynch gets Sixmilebridge off the mark with a brilliant point from distance in the 6th minute.

St Vincent’s 0-0 – Summerhill 0-1: The Meath champions open the scoring in Parnell Park thanks to a free from captain Brian Ennis.

Portlaoise 0-2 – Moorefield 0-0: Bruno McCormack and Craig Rogers have put the Town two points up on Kildare champions Moorefield after eight minutes.

Na Piarsaigh 1-1 Sixmilebridge 0-1: Adrian Breen makes headway in attack before being pulled back and Shane Dowling obliges by converting the resultant free. 11 minutes gone.

St Brigid’s 1-2 Castlebar Mitchels 0-1: Senan Kilbride has started this game on fire and he’s raised the umpires green flag for the first time today. Tom King points a free to put Castlebar on the scoreboard.

St Vincent’s 0-1 – Summerhill 0-1: A well taken point from Gav Burke has drawn the Dublin champions level after 10 minutes.

Na Piarsaigh 1-3 Sixmilebridge 0-1: No doubt whose attack is settling better so far. Adrian Breen and David Dempsey tack on points to extend Na Piarsaigh’s lead.

Portlaoise 0-3 – Moorefield 0-0: Brian Glynn gives the home side a three point lead.

St Vincent’s 0-1 – Summerhill 0-3: Another Brian Ennis free and a David Larkin point from play has given Summerhill the lead after both goalkeepers were called into action to stop good goal chances.

Na Piarsaigh 1-4 Sixmilebridge 0-1: The Clare champions are struggling to find fluency in their play so far in Cusack Park. Niall Gilligan has just missed a chance to grab a score for them with Pat Gleeson pointing at the other end. Six points between the sides.

Portlaoise 0-3 – Moorefield 0-3: Three scores without reply, all frees, have drawn Moorefield level and it’s game on in O’Moore Park.

St Vincent’s 0-2 – Summerhill 0-4: Mossy Quinn points a free for Vincent’s after Conor Gillespie had stretched Summerhill’s lead to three.

Na Piarsaigh 1-5 Sixmilebridge 0-2: Shane Golden has just hit a vital point for Sixmilebridge, swinging over a shot from play. That cancels out an earlier free by Shane Dowling. Still six points between the teams in Cusack Park with 22 minutes gone.

Na Piarsaigh 1-7 Sixmilebridge 0-3: Class point by Shane Dowling after he dispossessed Aidan Quilligan and that’s followed up by a stylish point by Adrian Breen. Niall Gilligan had converted a free for Sixmilebridge before that but there’s no doubt who’s on top here.

St Vincent’s 1-3 – Summerhill 0-6: After Summerhill dominated the first half, Vincent’s have come back with a goal off Mossy Quinns left foot. Level in Parnell Park.

HALF-TIME: St’ Vincent’s 1-7 – Summerhill 0-6: Very impressive comeback from the Dublin champions as they were being run ragged for the first 15/20 mins but finished the half very strongly.

Leinster IHC final: Half-time and it’s Wexford’s Buffers Alley who lead by 0-8 to 0-5 against Kilkenny’s Rower-Inistioge.

HALF-TIME: St Brigid’s 1-6 Castlebar Mitchels 1-1: It’s a five point lead for the defending champions and, Kirby’s goal aside, they looked by far the better team in that first half.

Munster JFC semi-final: Clare’s Coolmeen lead Limerick’s Feohanagh-Castlemahon at the break by 1-4 to 0-6. Kerry’s Keel await the winners in the final.

Munster JHC semi-final: Waterford’s Ballysaggart hold a 0-6 to 0-2 lead at the break against Knockshegowna of Tipperary.

HALF-TIME: Moorefield 0-6 – Portlaoise 0-4: After racing into a three point lead, Portlaoise allowed Kildare champions Moorefield pack into the game through a series of unanswered frees from Ronan Sweeney and Adam Tyrrell.

Castlebar Mitchels 3-6 – St Brigid’s 1-6:Massive turnaround in the opening 12 minutes of the second half here as 14-men Castebar now lead by six after a Richie Feeney goal.

Portlaoise 1-5 Moorefield 0-7: Incredibly, Moorefield still haven’t scored from play as Ronan Sweeney points another free to close the gap to one point.
